Jo Anne Ogburn Myers, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family . Born November 28, 1941 in Johnston County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lee and Eurice Langdon Ogburn.
Jo Anne graduated from Cleveland High School in 1959. In 1962, she married the love of her life, Leamon Myers, and together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and service as they raised their four sons. When Leamon founded L&M Electric, Jo Anne stood faithfully beside him, offering her unwavering encouragement while helping manage the administrative side of the business for 32 years. Her quiet dedication and steady support were instrumental in helping the family business grow and succeed.
A gifted homemaker with a servant's heart, Jo Anne found joy in cooking for those she loved, tending to her yard, and creating beautiful quilts. She lovingly quilted for her family and members of her community, continuing this cherished tradition right up until her passing.
Jo Anne devoted countless hours to the Boy Scouts of America, serving for many years as a dedicated den mother while her sons progressed through Scouting. She and Leamon remained active in the organization long after their boys had grown, proudly supporting Scouting and celebrating as each of their four sons earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of Mount Zion Global Methodist Church for decades, she faithfully sang in the choir and joyfully served in nearly every aspect of the church's ministry.
Some of Jo Anne's happiest memories were made with her family in Oriental, North Carolina, where they loved spending time together while the boys were growing up. Summers were often spent at Atlantic Beach, and she and Leamon treasured their mountain retreat in Galax, Virginia. No matter where they were, Jo Anne's home was always a place of warmth and welcome. Known to many simply as "Aunt Jo," she had a gift for making everyone feel like family. Her table was always full, her kitchen was always busy, and there was always room for one more.
Above all else, Jo Anne was a devoted wife, mother, sister, Gena, and Aunt Jo. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, generous hospitality, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by her family, cherished by her many friends, and fondly remembered throughout the community she so faithfully served.
Jo Anne is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leamon Myers; sons, Barry Myers and his wife, April, Kevin Myers and his wife, Laura, and Joel Myers and his wife, Jenny; daughter-in-law, Karen Myers; brother-in-law, Otis McLaurin; 11 grand-children and 8 great-grandchildren.
Jo Anne was preceded in death by her son, Eugene Myers; sisters, Shirley McLaurin and Joy Dry and parents, Charles Lee and Eurice Langdon Ogburn.
